A 7 Day Detox: THIS Is How You Do It…

Relax. Before you think of punishing juice fasts and bird seed portions, you'll be pleased to know there is a safer and more doable way to undertake a 7 day detox that doesn't involve completely depriving yourself of, well, pretty much everything. We wouldn't do that to you (or ourselves)...

A 7 day detox is great if you’ve betrayed your body with a few too many hard weekends (we regret nothing). It can do wonders for your skin, boost energy levels, improve digestion and and help you lose few pounds in the process. But, it’s important to remember a detox is far from a quick fix for weight loss.

The purpose of any detox plan is to cleanse the organs of all the bad stuff that doesn’t agree with your body. If you feel like you’re in need of a real health kick, or just short-term body boost, follow our 7 day detox that will have you feeling at your very best.

It’s best to choose a week where you don’t have any occasions that will test your discipline during your detox (yes, that includes your weekly cocktail session with the girls).

What you need to avoid: Alcohol and cigarettes Milk and dairy Coffee Carbs (bread, biscuits, cakes, pasta, rye, barley, oats, spelt and rice) Dried fruit

What you can enjoy: Fruits Vegetables Fish Lean red meat, chicken (without the skin) Eggs Kidney beans, chickpeas, lentils Nuts Seeds (raw unsalted sesame, pumpkin and sunflower seeds) Tea (green, white tea, black tea with no caffeine) (A lot of) Water

Our 7 Day Detox Plan:

Prepare yourself mentally Ensuring your mind is prepared for any challenge is a good start. Try and de-clutter your thoughts so all your motivation goes towards accomplishing your goal.

Morning start Squeeze half a lemon in a cup of hot water and drink first thing in the morning before breakfast. A great way to kick start your digestion and cleanse your system.

Work up a sweat Go all out. Vigorous exercise increases lymph flow and circulation which sweats out all your toxins. Do anything – spinning, yoga, running or boxing.

Raw foods Ok, so don’t go mad on sushi but aim to eat mainly raw foods (which also saves you time on cooking). Raw foods contain more nutrients and enzymes which is a big thumbs up.

Step away from the vodka… Sorry, no alcohol, but aim to drink up to three litres of fluids a day. Stick to water, fresh fruit/vegetable juice and herbal detox teas. Your kidneys will thank you.

Jaw workout Channel your inner camel and chew your heart out! Trick your stomach into feeling full without a need to overeat. Chew each mouthful of food around 10 to 12 times before swallowing which will improve your digestion.

Body TLC Brush your skin in firm circular motions before you shower. Doing this daily will support circulation and increase skin detoxification. Use a loofah or natural fibre brush and start from the bottom working your way up.

Of course, tailor your detox to whatever suits you but stick to these core guidelines and we promise you’ll feel amazing.
